New Orleans Style Cajun Pasta

This is one of my husband’s FAVORITE meals and he’s not even a big pasta guy. So that’s how you know this recipe is a full on crowd pleaser!

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 15-20 minutes

Serves: 4-6


Ingredients:

  • 16 ounces Smoked Sausage
  • 8 ounces Bowtie pasta 
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream or heavy cream
  • 2 oz of cream cheese (optional – makes for a more rich, creamy alfredo sauce )
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 3/4 tbsp Cajun Seasoning
  • 3/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup 5 cheese italian style blend (optional – extra cheesy alfredo)

Sausage Seasonings:

  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Red pepper
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Half of the Cajun seasoning

Alfredo Seasonings:

  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Smidge of red pepper
  • Onion powder
  • Oregano
  • Garlic powder
  • Other half of Cajun seasoning
  • Basil

*measure with your heart – use however much or as little as you prefer.


Instructions:

Step 1:

Cook the pasta according to package directions.

Step 2:

In a large skillet, saute the sausage slices until crispy and browned around the edges. 

Step 3:

Add the garlic just as the sausage is browning, and cook for about 1 minute.  

Step 4:

Add the cream and Cajun seasoning to the skillet with the sausage, stirring until the seasoning and cream are blended. 

Step 5:

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 3-4 minutes, until the cream mixture starts the thicken.

Step 6:

Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the parmesan.  Add the pasta to the pan and toss to coat. Serve immediately.
